Klein Votes to Extend Homebuyer Tax Credits
11/05/09Washington, DC – Congressman Ron Klein (FL-22) today joined a bipartisan majority of his colleagues to support legislation that will strengthen South Florida's economy. The bill, the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2009 (H.R. 3548) has two critical provisions for our community. First, it extends tax credits for first-time homebuyers in order to continue to provide a crucial jolt to the real estate market and the South Florida economy. In addition, the bill supports local businesses by allowing a five-year carry-back on net operating losses.

Klein Supports Consumer Protections from Credit Card Company Abuses
11/04/09Washington, DC – Congressman Ron Klein (FL-22) today strongly supported legislation passed by a bipartisan majority of the U.S. House to protect consumers and crack down on some of the most egregious practices of credit card companies. The Expedited CARD Reform for Consumers Act of 2009 (H.R. 3639) moves up the effective date of credit card reform legislation previously passed by Congress in order to prevent credit card companies from taking advantage of the transition period allowed by the previous law to quickly raise rates and change the terms of their agreements with customers.

Klein Continues Fight to Protect Health Care for Seniors
11/04/09Washington, DC – Congressman Ron Klein (FL-22) today introduced an amendment to the health care reform bill currently pending in the U.S. House, the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962). Klein's amendment grandfathers in current enrollees in private Medicare Advantage plans to ensure that any future changes to the program do not impact the care they receive. This amendment marks another step in Klein's fight to strengthen and protect Medicare for our seniors.
